Mrs. Pat Chacra Human Development & Family Science "The UConn ECE program is a great opportunity for students to get a jumpstart on the college experience and I enjoy being able to support their transition to reaching their post-secondary goals. Human Development and Family Science will provide students with an understanding of individual and family development over the lifespan. The course will focus on the developing individual in the context of the family system and the changes that occur in family systems over time. Fieldwork is a key component of the course set by UConn. This class is one of my favorite courses to teach as it includes information that will be helpful in your professional and personal lives." |
Ms. Laura D'Allesandro Seminar and Studio in Academic Writing and Multimodal Composition "I am excited to teach this new UCONN first year writing course that blends traditional and multimodal writing. Students get to develop inquiry and collaboration skills, hone their writing skills, and earn high school and college credit simultaneously!" |
Mrs. Ella Kraiz General Chemistry I "UConn Chemistry is an experimental science that combines academic study with the acquisition and development of practical and investigational skills. The course will allow students to develop their problem-solving and analytical skills. In addition students will gain confidence to pursue more advanced chemistry courses in college. Upon completion students will earn 8 college credits. Laboratory work forms an integral part of the class." |
Mr. Mike LaRusso
Principles of Microeconomics "As a UConn alumni who majored in Economics, having an opportunity to take UConn ECE Economics is something I wish I had as a student. To be able to walk into college with credit to the university while also having an understanding of the rigor expected of a college Economics course is an invaluable experience for any student who takes advantage of the opportunity." |
Saleh Jahangir Physics "ECE Physics 1201Q is one of the most challenging subjects that SHS has to offer. However, it can be fun too. So why not take this course, get the credit, save dollars, and make it easy in your college life. Don't worry. I will be with you to ensure that you have a smooth sail". |
Mrs. Tara Karlson Environmental Science "I'm excited to be teaching NRE 1000 to our SHS students this year. My goal is to guide each student to become a free, informed decision maker. The skills built in class will be used beyond the classroom as they grow up and navigate the many choices they will make throughout their lives." |
Mr. Douglas MacLehose US History to 1877 & since 1877 "I have been teaching UConn ECE U.S. History for the last 7 years and prior to that taught AP U.S. History for about 15 years. UConn ECE allows for a lot of flexibility in the curriculum that lets me shape it to fit the needs and interests of my students while still providing a rigorous and intense college-credit bearing class. Not being tied to another institution's mandated testing, while still gaining college credits, allows for a more interesting and challenging class." |

Mr. Timothy Eaton-Koch Drawing I "The UConn ECE Drawing Course is a rigorous and foundational course for all students. It asks students to develop an awareness and understanding of how to construct drawings based on observation. The goal is to draw what you actually see and not what you think you see. This course is an excellent fit for students who are deeply interested in drawing and want to learn college level art techniques and skills. I look forward to working with students to help them practice their drawing and earn college credit at the same time!" |
